Have you ever felt lost, and disconnected from God? I know I have, several times. Ever since I graduated from college in 2013, it’s been an internal battle. I’ve questioned a lot of my decision and second guess myself on a daily basis. “Maybe I should do this instead” or ” I don’t have time to wait on God’s timing, i’ll do this myself” and every time it ends up going completely wrong!
Often, we go through seasons on a yearly basis, and we have to remember it’s just that, a season. The storm doesn’t last forever, Psalms 55:22 cast your cares unto the Lord and he will take care of you. Some people may think he’s not listening or he’s punishing you for your sinful ways but to be honest, God doesn’t want to punish you, he’s trying to get your attention and for you to lean on him instead of other people. He longs for your attention, he wants to know you personally but you’ll have to seek him first. In Matthew 7:7 it states “Ask, and it shall be given you, seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”.When something goes wrong in our lives, who do we turn to first? Personally, I seek every other opinion but God’s until the last minute however, I’m working on that as we speak. If we valued God’s opinions more than others, we would feel better about ourselves.
This world is only temporary and we have to please him, not your father, not your mother, not your sister or brother or your boyfriend. You will lose friends along the way but that’s okay, they’re not going where God is taking you. At the end of the day when you’re face to face with God, he’s judging you and ONLY YOU; you can’t blame anyone but yourself. Just remember only YOU can get yourself into heaven.
Only God can fill your depression, sorrow, void, or whatever you are going through. In Proverbs 3:5 it states “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understandings”. You have to remember to seek him in order to fully understand his glory which I’m starting this journey now.
Food for thought:
If we really sit down and asked ourselves, who are we really trying to please..this world or God? The majority of the answers would be this world, if you’re completely honest with yourself…
In 2 Corinthians 5:9 “Therefore we also have our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him”.
